Try this Nutritious (and Delicious!) Back-to-School Breakfast Recipe

Ready to start the new school year off on a healthy note? Trying swapping sugary cereals and toaster pastries for a nutritious (but just as delicious) breakfast sure to keep their bellies full and their brains sharp in the classroom.

Whole grain oats are a great way to add more fiber to your child’s diet, and more fiber means more good bacteria in their gut to support digestive and immune health throughout the school year.* Here’s a quick and easy recipe moms and dads can feel good about:

Cinnamon Apple Steel Cut Oat Crunch

½ cup dry steel cut oats
1 cup water
½ tsp. sea salt
½ Granny Smith apple with skin, chopped
¼ cup almond milk, plain
¼ cup chopped raw walnuts*
Cinnamon to taste 

Directions: Mix oats, water, and sea salt in a medium saucepan; cover and let soak overnight. In the morning, heat the oat mixture over medium heat until creamy, approximately 5- 10 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in chopped apples, almond milk, and walnuts. Pour into serving dish and sprinkle with cinnamon to taste. Enjoy!

Tip: Remember to soak raw nuts overnight.
