Let’s Get Clear on Cleanses: Herbal Cleansing vs. Juicing

Cleansing is simply another way to help your body stay healthy—like eating right and getting plenty of exercise. One of the big benefits of herbal cleansing over juicing is its simplicity: many people choose herbal cleansing because there is no slicing, dicing, squeezing, or blending involved. That can get pretty time consuming!

Herbal cleansing formulas typically come in convenient and easily portable vegetable capsules or powder, with ingredients from natural sources to help eliminate toxins, promote regular bowel movements, and support a balanced digestive system.* A cleanse  may last for a few days or as long as a month, depending on individual needs.

Another benefit of herbal cleansing is no fasting. Juicing (or juice cleansing) is a type of fast that involves drinking mainly fruit and vegetable juice for a period of time. While this works for some people, others may have a hard time giving up solid foods. During an herbal cleanse, you can continue eating healthy foods as normal.

Like herbal cleansing, juicing helps flush toxins from the body while providing many of the nutrients found naturally in fruits and veggies, but the downside is that you lose much of the beneficial fiber (along with some nutrients) when you only consume your fruits and vegetables in juice form. And while some fruit and vegetable juices can be nutrient packed, they are no substitute for total-body, herbal detoxification.
