3 Simple Steps to Spring Clean Your Body

It is finally spring, my friends!

Spring is my favorite time of year because with it comes life. Everywhere I look I see flowers budding, vegetable starters peeking out from the garden beds, birds singing, and people coming out from hibernation to enjoy the warmer weather and longer days. Ah, spring. What’s not to love?

How am I going to spring clean my body this year? Three simple steps: 

One: Get active.

Other than daily yoga, the winter months are largely a time of inactivity for me. It’s hard to feel motivated to get outside when the days are short, cloudy, and rainy. But now that it’s spring, I can begin spring cleaning my body by getting active. Better yet, I can do it while cleaning up my yard. Over the past few weeks I have set aside at least one hour each day to get outside and work on the yard. I’m moving mulch, pulling weeds, laying fresh my dirt on garden beds, and cleaning up the debris from the winter. This is the most satisfying way to get active as it wakes up my body while literally cleaning up the world around me.

Two: Eat clean.

Something about the hibernation and short rainy days of winter make healthy eating very difficult for me. I spend a lot of the winter months eating pasta, bread, and every other glutinous food you can imagine.
