Hi lynnieb,

First, don’t get discouraged! Recurrent vaginal yeast infections are the sign of an unhealthy yeast/bacteria balance, but the right supplements can help restore a healthy balance and get your body back on track. CandiGONE, CandiZYME and Ultimate Flora Vaginal Support are definitely a good start, and you may also benefit from our Rapid Yeast Relief formula.

Keep in mind however that yeast overgrowth is often triggered by diet and lifestyle factors such as eating too much sugar and refined carbohydrates, taking certain medications, and even stress. At this point it may be helpful to take a step back and look at the foods you eat as well as your daily habits. If you haven’t already, begin following our Yeast Cleansing Diet and eliminate those foods that are known to feed unhealthy yeast in the vaginal and urinary tract. Added fiber will also help nourish the good bacteria in your body and eliminate harmful yeast and toxins.

At this point, just take one day at a time and remember that a healthy yeast/bacteria balance is about making the right choices every day and giving your body the tools it needs to form a solid foundation of optimal health. And don’t forget to drink plenty of water—at least half your body weight in ounces every day.

If you have any questions or want to discuss your symptoms further, don’t hesitate to call our Customer Service team at 1-800-830-1800. Good luck and good health!

I have struggled with reoccurring vaginal yeast infections for 4 1/2 years now.  I have tried everything under the sun.  Finally in October, I started taking Candigone.  My infection cleared up immediately.  I took Candigone for six weeks.  I added Candizyme and Ultimate Flora Vaginal Support.

I have been completely clear for about seven weeks now.  I stopped the Candigone after five weeks, but continue to use the Candizyme and Probiotics.  I am taking five probiotics a day.

All of the sudden I woke up this morning with the start of a yeast infection.  Any ideas?  I was so excited to finally have this thing under control and now I am feeling discouraged.

I don't want to give up since I have had some success.  Should I change the protocol?  Please help.

Yes, some people do douche with probiotics, though we do not recommend it with our probiotics. That is because most of the research showing that probiotics are helpful for vaginal issues use probiotics that are meant to be taken orally, and douching would require opening a capsule that has been designed especially to withstand stomach acid and travel to the intestines/vagina.

Oral probiotics are effective for vaginal issues because the good bacteria end up colonizing in the digestive tract and migrating to the genital area with normal daily activity. This is not something most people think about, but it happens in women all the time because of the close proximity of the anus and vagina. Probiotics simply maintain a favorable, healthy environment in the vaginal area - building up the colonies of good bacteria and driving down the bad bacteria that may cause infection. In the healthy bladder and kidneys NO bacteria are present - luckily probiotics keep unfavorable bacteria such as E. coli from traveling up the urethra toward the bladder and kidneys.

I have read that some people douche with probiotics.  Would this help.  Also, I still don't understand the chemistry of how the probiotic reaches the bladder and the vagina from the intestinal tract.  Is it through the blood stream? Laugh

Not silly at all! :)

Ultimate Flora Vaginal Support 50 Billion uses our unique Enteric-GUARD™ delivery technology. This means that each natural vegetable capsule has an added layer of protection to help safeguard the active bacteria from being broken down by harsh stomach acid. As a result, the active probiotics are delivered directly to the intestines, vagina and urinary tract where they are needed most.

How do the probiotics for vaginal support reach the vagina since you are taking them orally?  Maybe a silly question. Laugh
