OfflineProbiotics have a LOT to do with digestion. There a re a few basic reasons why probiotics "balance" digestion.
First, probiotics literally mean "good bacteria" they are the bad bacteria rival. They crowd out and antagonize bad bacteria which can cause digestive distress or even possible infection.
Good bacteria, like probiotics, also help digestion by producing short chain fatty acids which nourish the cells of the digestive tract. Talk about a good house guest! Just by living in the digestive system, these amazing good bacteria help keep the cells healthy and functioning properly.
Probiotics are also known to produce proteins called enzymes which enhance overall digestion and they produce vitamins such as vitamin K and B vitamins which are imperative to digestion.
Check out this article on probiotics in our learning center that goes into some detail.
