Dear bbeckmeyer,

I truly feel for you! I'm picturing you well and off the merry-go-round!

First, yes, you can take probiotics while taking antibiotics - at least 3 hours away from the antibiotics. Those intense meanie antibiotics will decimate your friendly probiotic guys, and I agree with you, it's still better than nothing. Usually you'll take anti's in the a.m. and p.m. You can do the probiotics at lunchtime, at least. Or any time, observing that 3 hour window.

I'd use the high dose powder probiotics. The Ultimate Flora Super Critical 200 billion.

Here's an additional thought - If it were me, I'd also get some Ultimate Flora Advanced Immunity. It contains a different type of probiotic that isn't affected by antibiotics (it's a yeast base) called S. boulaardi.

You can read about a protocol that Brenda uses to help people who are dealing with persistent c. diff infections here - http://blog.brendawatson.com/f.....ng-c-diff/. You may need to join Brenda's Community to access this. No worries, it's free to join.

I'm VERY happy to hear you're following the anti-Candida diet. And that you've been taking the 50 and 30 billion each morning. If finances are an issue, actually you can continue with those until you're through your antibiotic, and then start with the 200 billion to repopulate the minute you've finished your prescriptive round.

Please let us know how it goes!

Hi! I had a hysterectomy with complete pelvic floor reconstruction and a catheter that was left in for 2 weeks during which time I was on antibiotics to fight off bladder infections. After the anesthesia and the antibiotics I am sure yeast went crazy in my system but it manifested in a horrible rash on my derrière. It is quite large and I was put on Fluconazole for 7 days...I am on day 6 and the rash is still there but kind of drying up.... but now I have cellulitis on my leg from an injection and I am back on antibiotics 3 times a day for a week!!! It is like a horrible cycle and I seem stuck in it. Can taking Probiotics while taking antibiotics help?? I have been eating a candida diet hoping that would help. I take Ultimate Flora Critical Care 50 Billion Probiotics, and Ultimate Flora Senior Formula 30 Billion every morning upon rising....I am at my wits end! Any help appreciated!!!
