I have to experienced hyperactivity taking enzymes, my face turned white and i went to emergency…. I was over whelmed with anxiety. Two hours later i calmed down and went home. Dr's had no answers….but what a rush. I was upset because i was really looking forward to taking enzymes. Later i was diagnosed with gastritis and inflammation in my esophogus. Somewhere i read not to take enzymes if one has gastritis because it irritates the stomach. Recently, i tried enzymes again and wigged out…i guess gastritis is still present…..

OfflineNo, this is not common at all. While research is ongoing about which nutritional supplements work best for children with autism, there is evidence that some yield benefits. Digestive enzymes are found naturally in raw, whole foods and help with digesting the food that we eat. They may be used also on an empty stomach to address inflammation. Some other supplements to consider include probiotics and essential fatty acids, as well as dietary changes. If you are concerned about your son's hyperactivity, we recommend consulting your pediatrician.
