Hi Darlene,

Constipation is typically the result of a combination of diet and lifestyle factors. It may be that your body is simply adjusting to your new cleansing regimen, and your bowel movements should return to normal before long. Increasing your fiber intake (you say you recently added FiberSMART to your diet in addition to eating a lot of fiber from your food) may also affect bowel function initially, so continue to drink plenty of water (at least half your body weight in ounces every day) and follow a healthy diet, and regularity should return.

Regular exercise is also a great way to stimulate bowel function, and it’s important also to set aside time each day to eliminate—and not to rush or ignore the urge to use the bathroom. A natural oil supplement may also help to lubricate the colon and encourage regular bowel movements.

If your symptoms persist or you have further questions, don’t hesitate to call our Customer Service team at 1-800-830-1800 for additional support.

Hello there,

Can you please clarify so we can better understand your symptoms? You write that you have frequent bowel movements, but then you say you have either one bowel movement a day or none at all. Which is it?

If you are experiencing occasional constipation, drinking plenty of water is definitely an excellent start, along with increasing your fiber intake and taking a daily oil supplement. Good call on the psyllium, since psyllium can often be very dehydrating and contribute to cramping, bloating and constipation.

However, if you are having a problem with diarrhea, CleanseSMART is not recommended, as it contains a powerful colon-cleansing component that is formulated to be beneficial for those with constipation. Instead we recommend beginning with a natural herbal formula such as DiarrheaSTOP to address the issue. You may continue with the fiber and oil supplements, and we also recommend adding a daily high-potency probiotic to help balance your gut and restore beneficial Bifidobacteria in the colon, which support bowel health and regularity.

Good luck!

Whoever replied to all_wise's post misread what she wrote.  She said she is having "INfrequent" not "frequent" bowel movements.

I joined this form because I haven't had a bowel movement since I started Candigone 4 days ago.  Normally I have at least one bowel movement a day.  At the same time I started Candigone, I started with your FiberSmart, Candizyme and Ultimate Flora products.  I take all products according to directions.  I drink at least the recommended glasses of water.  I've been on a Candida diet for a while now; so, I eat a lot of fiber every day.

I'm trying to understand how taking your products could result in being constipated--especially since I've never had problems with constipation before.  Any ideas?

Hi Darlene, I edited my original post because I mistakenly put frequent bowel movement by mistake initially Embarassed. I stopped the cleanse for now till my candida diet is not as restrictive because it's just been tough for me personally and having constipation while trying to eliminate candida from the body has not been fun. Anyway, I hope you get the help you need and that the cleanse you are doing works well for you! Good luck! Kiss

I've been using Smartcleanse for about a week now and I still have problems with INfrequent bowel movements. Most days I either have 1 bowel movement or none at all!

I drink ALOT of water (at least 72 ounces every day), I eat lots of veggies and proteins and follow the diet very well,  I take a omega 369 oil blend and take Fibersmart 2-3 times a day. I used to take Psyllium husks but it gave me constipation no matter how much water I drank. I'm also on an anticandida diet so i do not eat fruits, wheat, sugar…etc. I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

So, what should I do differently? Should I exercise more? Eat more protein? Drink even more water? I feel very discouraged because the frequency of my BM's are even worse than when I started the cleanse :( Thanks for your help.
