I have a question.. I'm mid 30's, I'm healthy, I eat clean, don't smoke, never been on birth control, take no RX meds, I exercise 3-4 times per week including muscle and cardio. I am not overweight or trying to lose weight. I don't believe in a quick fix or miracle cures or cleanses. I know the only long term way to lose or maintain a healthy weight is lifestyle of health eating and exercising.
That said, in Sept I did a 15 day parasite cleanse (first and only cleanse I've ever done) which consist of a very clean diet...no dairy, red meat, wheat, sugars incl. fruit, no wine or beer, no soy, no coffee, etc. I followed the diet restrictions very diligently. In addition to the diet, I took a blend herbal supplements (Paragone).. I should mention I did this cleanse due to a terrible bout of food poisoning from sushi that led to ongoing intestinal discomfort and pain.
15 days of cleansing and I feel great and my stomach issues are gone. However, my Sept and Oct menstrual cycles have been 2-3 days late (pre-cleanse my period was like timely, like clock work) and now I'm very, very light. I am mainly just spotting. (pre-cleanse I had a heavy flow days 2-4). I start feeling the symptoms (bloating, cramping) of my period on the expected start date but I don’t actually flow. I’ve read many cases where serious diet changes/cleanse can cause irregular menstruation. It seems a lot of women have the opposite problem though, they cleanse and the have terrible heavy long period or continual periods.
Is this accurate? Is this something that should return to normal for me over the next few months/cycles?
Your feedback is appreciated.
