The first thing to remember is that constipation is often the result of a variety of factors, including poor diet (too many processed foods and sugar, not enough fiber), a lack of fluid intake, a lack of essential fatty acids, not enough exercise—even the use of certain medications or just not taking the time to eliminate each day can lead to a constipated colon. I have just started the 30 day CleanseSmart program. In the past, I have had very bad constipation, not elliminating sometimes for 3 months or so even though I eat most solid foods regularly. Since I have started the cleanse, I have had diarrhea – elliminating water and undigested food only. I also have discomfort from having to go often.
During my yearly physical, physicians haven't said too much about this issue. Drink more water.
