Although cleansing and detoxification are related, they are not the same thing, and no - not all cleanses are colon cleanses, but many contain colon-cleansing ingredients to help with bowel regularity. By definition, detoxification  refers to the body's natural process of elimination or neutralization of toxic materials from its cells, tissues, organs and bloodstream, while cleansing is the process of helping your body perform its vital detoxification and elimination functions more thoroughly.

Typically, a total-body cleansing formula will support all of the body's 7 channels of elimination--the lungs, liver, lymphatic system, kidneys, skin, blood and bowel (or colon) and as such will often include a natural colon-cleansing component made with bowel-stimulating herbs and minerals such as rhubarb, cape aloe and magnesium. ReNew Life recommends a total-body cleanse like this at least twice yearly, and depending upon your individual needs and lifestyle, we recommend First Cleanse, CleanseSMART, Organic Total Body Cleanse, or Total Body RAPID Cleanse.

For additional support for those with specific concerns (such as liver or kidney health), our targeted detoxification formulas are recommended. These will include specific ingredients proven to help absorb and eliminate toxins and enhance well being, but they may not always include a colon-cleansing component. For example, our Liver Detox program contains potent liver-supporting herbs and nutraceuticals to assist with healthy liver function and detoxification, since the liver is your body's primary detoxification organ.

What's the difference between cleansing and detoxification? And are all cleanses just colon cleanses? Or are there more benefits to cleansing and detox than just regularity?
