Dried Lotus Root & Ginger Bronchial Soother

Serves: 6 (½-cup servings)

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. dried lotus root
  • 6 cups purified water
  • 1 tsp. ginger juice (from fresh ginger)

Directions:
Place lotus root and water in medium saucepan on high heat. Bring to boil. Remove from heat. Let lotus root hydrate for 45 minutes. Return water and lotus root to heat and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low. Cook 40 minutes. Strain lotus root. Add ginger juice. Drink warm, up to four times a day.

Folklore: Lotus root has been used traditionally to help dissolve excess mucus in the lungs, bronchi, throat and sinuses.
